Matt has received both a 2009 BAFTA NOMINATION for BEST FACTUAL PHOTOGRAPHY & BAFTA CYMRU NOMINATION for BEST CAMERA: NOT DRAMA for his work on Amazon With Bruce Parry.

Biography

Matt studied at the Welsh International Film School and has collaborated with a diverse range of international acclaimed filmmakers on cinema and television productions.

Over the last 20 years, Matt has filmed in most terrains and climates, from the jungles of Congo and Amazon to the Arctic.

Documentary credits include: Amazon with Bruce Parry - BBC/ Discovery (Matt Norman - Nominated for 2009 BAFTA: Best Factual Photography & Nominated for BAFTA CYMRU: Best Camera: Not Drama, Series nominated for BAFTA: Best Factual Series), Planet Earth - BBC (Winner of 2007 Best Cinematography Non-Fiction: EMMY/ RTS / BAFTA/ Jackson Hole/ RTS/ Kodak Awards), Tribe - BBC (Nominated 2008 BAFTA Best Documentary Series), Cutting Edge: “Battle For a Baby” - October Films/ CH4, Omnibus: “Les Miserables To Shanghai” - BBC,  Greatest Britons, “Brunel”- BBC, Someone to Watch Over Me (Winner RTS Best Documentary), In The Roman Empire (drama-doc) - Discovery.

Along with his DOP work Matt is also an in-demand steadicam operator with numerous commercials and music videos to his name. Music credits include Stereophonics, The Offspring, Editors, Mcfly, Bon Jovi, Range Rover.

Languages: Intermediate French (extensive period in French Caribbean).

Matt is well acquainted with 35mm & Super 16mm film cameras, Steadicam operating, Jimmy Jib & Panther Cranes, high-speed filming, underwater housings, mini-cams, night-vision, thermal cameras, DVCAM, HDV, XD-Cam, Digital-Betacam, HD-Cam, Varicam and DVC-PRO HD.

Matt has completed:

AKE: Surving Hostile Environments 2009, 5 day course , BTEC Level 4

CAL BCAP: Basic Canopy Access Profiiciency Course 2008 (Shooting experience with High Definition cameras on rock faces and jungle canopies)

BBC: Safe Working with Cameras and Lights Health and Safety Course 2008

EX+MED: Medicine In Remote Areas Course 2007 (accredited by the Royal College of Surgeons)
