James Burchill


James joined Films at 59 in 1997 as a Sound Designer/Editor. He has gained
extensive experience in Sound design for Natural History, Film &
Television Drama (Dialogue & FX Editing), Documentary and Animation.

James was nominated in the ‘Best Sound’ Category at the RTS Awards in 2015
for two programmes, ‘Wonders of the Monsoon: Deluge’ and ‘Wild Weather
with Richard Hammond’. And previously nominated for a News & Documentary
Emmy Award in 2005 for Nature, Ireland for PBS.

Over the last three years James has also been working closely with BBC
Earth & Sega as their sound designer for their new ‘ORBI’ Nature
Experience in Japan, James has created the soundtrack for six films for
their main cinema so far – a 40m wide screen with 22 channel 3D sound! It
has been invaluable experience working on a ‘first of it’s kind’ platform
which has greatly enhanced his creativity in all aspects of sound design.
