Tom Hobbs


Tom joined Films at 59 in 2011 after graduating from Huddersfield University where he now returns frequently as a guest lecturer. With a background in music production and skills in acoustics, electronics and computer programming, he has excellent technical knowledge of the systems employed in the dubbing department and a creative ear to get the best out of the tools at hand. Starting as a member of the audio machine room team, Tom has built up years of knowledge and experience in the technicalities of audio post as well as the domestic and international specifications required by broadcasters.

Now a member of the mixing team, Tom has tracklayed and mixed a number of award winning short films including ‘I Should Have Run’ which was recently featured by Blumhouse. He also has extensive experience recording Foley for high profile productions including Disney Nature’s Ghost of the Mountains and National Geographic’s Savage Kingdom.

In his free time Tom is an accomplished rock climber. Whether it’s spending days at a time on the big walls in Yosemite USA, or trad and sport climbing in UK and Europe, he is always looking for the next big challenge to push his abilities.
