Alex Short

SOUND MIXER

Originally from Cornwall, Alex started his career in sound as a recording engineer at a busy music studio in Birmingham. Drawn to the bright lights of Bristol Alex joined our media ops team in 2018 where he honed his technical knowledge in edit assisting, broadcast delivery and QAR.

Alex has now solidified himself as an integral member of the dubbing team and has recently been nominated for an RTS WoE Award for his work on AIDS: The Unheard Tapes (Wall to Wall, BBC2).

Alex loves working with people and has earned a reputation within the department as being a strong team player who’s keen to get stuck into all aspects of a project, including mixing, sound design, sound editing as well as voice and foley recording.

Alex enjoys the wide variety of genres and challenges that come through our doors, and is particularly interested in specialising in animation and adventure projects. He’s heavily involved in music composition and production in his spare time and has played in various pop and rock bands over the years; something that greatly influences his creative approach to working with sound.

Outside of work Alex likes to spend his time composing various styles of music, long distance running, travelling the world with his wife and (very slowly) renovating his home.
